Lagos rescues nine-year-old victim of alleged sexual assault
The Inanna Women's Empowerment Foundation (IWEF) has called on students to report any form of sexual assault by providing free legal assistance to such individuals. The Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development (MYSD) in collaboration with the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has rescued a nine-year-old girl who was allegedly sexually assaulted by a Father Michael.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, disclosed this in a statement on his official X handle @Mo_ogunlende on Saturday.
He said the alleged attack took place at the suspect's house at 4, Azeez Ademola Street, near Anishere, Ayobo.
"This was in response to a viral video posted by comedian Princess, who raised the alarm to inform the public about the horrific incident." "The survivor has been taken into custody and is receiving necessary medical attention and psychological support through counselling," he said.

According to him, the suspected perpetrator has been apprehended and is currently in custody while the DSVA is handling legal proceedings to ensure justice.
Ogunlende said the swift intervention of MYSD and DSVA underscored the Lagos State Government's unwavering commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of all residents, especially the vulnerable in our society.
The commissioner urged residents to continue reporting issues of concern to the ministry: "See something, say something, resolve it."
He reaffirmed the government's zero tolerance stance towards all forms of sexual and gender-based violence.
