Federal prosecutors have filed an indictment against Sean "Diddy" Combs, expanding the racketeering conspiracy charges to include two female victims.
Combs was previously charged with racketeering conspiracy and transporting for prostitution a longtime ex-girlfriend, who is identified in the indictment as "Victim 1." The superseding indictment says the crimes extended to two other women. He is also charged with sex trafficking of "Victim 1."
Prosecutors have repeatedly clashed in court with Combs' attorneys over the number of alleged victims. Combs' attorneys have argued that the allegations involving "Victim 1" are not evidence of sex trafficking, but rather "consensual" activity that occurred between people in a long-term relationship.
"There is one victim in the indictment ... it's not 50," a lawyer for Combs previously told CNN's Kaitlan Collins. Speaking about the indictment, he added: "What they did, and it's kind of funny, is 50 witnesses or victims — well, it's just one victim. That's all there is to the indictment."
The new indictment also alleges that the criminal conduct dates back to 2004, four years before the alleged start.
Prosecutors allege that Combs and his associates used their positions of power and influence to intimidate and lure female victims, often "under the guise of a romantic relationship," and then trick them into engaging in sexual acts, often involving male sex workers, according to the indictment. Prosecutors have previously alleged that the crimes occurred during "Freak Offs," or events where women were drugged and forced to have sex. In the new indictment, prosecutors allege that in some cases the criminal activity involved only Combs and a female victim. Additionally, the new indictment alleges that when Combs' authority was threatened by employees, witnesses or others, he sometimes responded with violence, including committing "multiple" acts of kidnapping. In one instance, the indictment says, Combs allegedly "suspended a victim over an apartment balcony."
"The latest indictment does not contain any new offenses." "The prosecution's theory remains flawed," Combs' attorney, Marc Agnifilo, said in a statement to CNN. "The government has added the ridiculous theory that two of Mr. Combs' ex-girlfriends were not girlfriends, but prostitutes. Mr. Combs is more determined than ever to fight these charges and win his case."
As part of the conspiracy charge, prosecutors have added two other drugs that Combs and others allegedly possessed, including psilocin, a psychedelic, and methamphetamine. Prosecutors said their investigation is ongoing, noting that in a letter to the judge Thursday.
"As the government has previously indicated, its investigation remains active and ongoing." "The government will seek to file any new charges as expeditiously as possible, given the May 5, 2025 trial date for this case," prosecutors wrote to the judge.
Combs has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
