ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) — A plane crashed near Ronald Reagan National Airport Wednesday night, and all takeoffs and landings were grounded, according to the airport and law enforcement.
Several helicopters, including those from the U.S. Park Police and the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department and the U.S. Army, were hovering over the scene of the incident on the Potomac River. D.C. Fire and EMS told X that firefighters were on scene.
Video from a surveillance camera at the nearby Kennedy Center shows two clusters of lights aligned with the plane that appeared to merge into a ball of fire. The airport said emergency personnel were responding to "an aircraft incident at the airport."
