Trump's former envoy to Ukraine says Putin is seen as a "problem"
"It's clear that Trump sees Putin as the problem, he's the cause of the war (in Ukraine) and he needs to stop the war," Kurt Volker, Trump's former special representative to Ukraine, told the BBC's Today show.
In a message published last night in the Social Truth, the outsider, the president threatened new sanctions against Moscow if an agreement is not reached soon.
"Put things in perspective," Volker continued, "the only reason there is a war is because Putin is doing it."
He added that more sanctions against Russia could cause "significant" damage.
"Russia has already frozen its foreign reserves abroad. It has a budget deficit and spends 40% of its government budget on the military. "It may take a few months, but not a few years." This sends a signal to Putin: the situation is getting worse. We need to push Putin to say that we need a ceasefire.
