Recalls over salmonella concerns
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a recall due to possible salmonella contamination of some brands of eggs in British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario and other potential provinces and territories.
The agency says the recall includes Compliments, Foremost, Golden Valley Eggs, IGA, unnamed and Western Family eggs.
The deadline dates for egg pulls are February 16th, February 17th, and February 25th. 22 and March 1.
The recall states that the recalled products should not be consumed, used, served or distributed and that consumers are advised to throw away the eggs or contact the retailer where they were sold.
The agency says that food contaminated with salmonella may not look or smell spoiled, but it can still make you sick.
For healthy people, short-term symptoms of salmonella include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, while the infection can be more severe, even fatal, for young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems.
