Edmonton police are warning the public about the release of (Brian) Yu Wang, who police say is a high-risk violent offender and there is reason to believe he may commit violent acts upon release.
Police are warning the public about a 'high-risk' and 'violent' offender who has been released from the Edmonton Detention Centre and will reside in the city.
(Brian) Yu Wang was released from detention on January 14. 14 and police have reason to believe he will commit another violent crime against the public, police said in a news release Thursday.
Wang is considered a violent offender who has expressed murderous thoughts toward people and is known to vandalize buildings in the communities where he lives.

The EPS Behavioral Assessment Unit and the Hate Crimes Unit are responsible for supervising Wang after his release.
Police say the purpose of the process is to warn the public and is not intended to encourage people to engage in vigilante action against Wang.
