The Federal Government has received $52.88 million in assets recovered from the United States of America linked to former petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, made this known at the official signing ceremony of the Nigeria-US Assets Agreement in Abuja on Friday.
In his speech, Fagbemi, according to Canali TV reports, explained that $50 million of the recovered assets will be distributed through the World Bank for the development of rural electrification projects, while the remaining $2 million will be used by the International Institute of Justice. to expand the justice system and fight corruption.
He also described the event as a milestone by President Bola Tinubu in the fight against corruption.
Meanwhile, the United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills, in his speech called for effective tracking and use of assets recovered by the Department of Justice to ensure that they benefit Nigerians.
