Calgary police say additional sexual assault charges have been filed against an elderly man who worked as a volunteer sponsor to help families immigrate to Canada.
Robert Edward Choquette, 83, of Calgary, was charged with three counts of sexual assault in November after allegedly sexually assaulting newcomers he was assigned to help through a local organization.
On Tuesday, police announced that two more victims had been identified.
One of the victims alleged that Choquette took advantage of his position as a volunteer sponsor to take advantage of their immigration status to commit sexual offences.

The second victim alleges that Choquette physically assaulted him multiple times in 1967 when he was a student and Choquette was a teacher. The new charges against Choquette include four counts of sexual assault and one count of criminal harassment.
He was also charged with three counts of assault with a firearm causing bodily harm under the Criminal Code 1967.
He will appear in court on January 29.
In Canada, there is no time limit on reporting sexual assault. Anyone who believes they have been a victim of sexual assault is encouraged to report it, even if it has been several years since the incident.
