🚨🇰🇷 WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR ABOUT THE SOUTH KOREA AIRLINES
The plane involved in the crash was a Boeing 737-800 operated by Korean airline Jeju Air.
The plane crashed at Muan International Airport shortly after 09:00 local time.
A bird strike is believed to have caused a problem with the landing gear, forcing the pilots to attempt to land the plane without the gear deployed.
There were 181 people on board the plane. Of these, 177 have been confirmed dead and 2 crew members have been taken to hospital. So far, 22 people have been identified. A temporary morgue was set up while families of the victims gathered at the airport.
Most of the passengers on board were South Korean, with the exception of two Thai nationals.
The ages of the passengers ranged from 3 to 78, but the majority were in their 40s, 50s and 60s.
