🚨 FINLAND-ESTONIA UNDERWATER POWER CABLE FAILURE: SABOTAGE SUSPECTED
A vital undersea power cable connecting Finland and Estonia was cut on Wednesday, raising fears of possible sabotage in the Baltic Sea.
Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo confirmed the outage but assured that power supplies remain stable. However, Fingrid's chief operating officer, Arto Pahkin, said sabotage "cannot be ruled out."
This follows recent incidents in the Baltic involving cut telecommunications cables between Sweden, Denmark and Lithuania. Suspicion initially fell on a Chinese ship, although Beijing has refused to join the investigation.
European officials suspect sabotage linked to geopolitical tensions, but Moscow has dismissed the allegations as "absurd."
The investigation into the EstLink 2 outage is ongoing.
