A collision on State Highway 1 claimed the lives of three motorcycle riders: Police are looking into whether the car was on the wrong side of the road, according to the club president.

Miller said the cyclists were attending an "old school bike rally" in Mangaweka, near the crash site.
"Our lady, from the Manawatū chapter of the Road Pirates Social Motorcycle Club, was a very cheerful woman, very funny ... [She was] a very competent motorcyclist."
He said the woman, in her 40s or 50s, was "the life of the party."

Miller told the Herald he didn't know the other man well.

"We're all still at my house waiting to hear something," Miller said yesterday.

Miller said of the rally: "It was just basically; sit around a fire, talk shit, drink shit and play games - that's what everyone would do and it all turned into cream English.
"You really have to bring our motorcycle club social community together now," he said. "We had Kinsmen [MC], Brothers in Arms [MC] with some military, and Lord knows how many came just to be for us, for Pirates and Bay MC.
