- FCCPC Chairman/CEO "Discos must bear the costs of replacing meters"
Nigerian energy distribution providers have been asked by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) to give consumers' rights top priority when it comes to electricity metering procedures.
This was said by Tunji Bello, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the FCCPC, during a meeting with important players in Nigeria's electricity industry. Bello emphasized that discos should pay for the replacement of meters without charging customers more, particularly during this transition period.
He denounced the common practice of adding customers with malfunctioning meters to anticipated billing, calling it a breach of NRC's rules.
