In Peru, lightning strikes a soccer match.
At a regional competition in Chilca, 39-year-old Jose Hugo de la Cruz Meza was killed instantaneously, while five players were hurt.
Juan Chocca Llacta, 40, the goalie, was also struck directly and was taken to the hospital in a taxi after suffering severe burns.
According to reports, the other victims—two minors, ages 16 and 19, as well as a 24-year-old—were in stable condition.
