Due to a deadly collision between a pedestrian and a CTrain on Wednesday morning, commuters in Calgary experienced significant delays entering downtown.
Officers were dispatched to the Bridgeland LRT Station at approximately 7 a.m., according to Calgary police, in response to allegations of an altercation involving a person and a CTrain.
After conducting an investigation, police stated in a statement that the occurrence seems to be "More of a tragic accident" and not criminal
Calgary Transit stated that Blue Line trains were running behind schedule because of a police matter in a post to X just before 7:30 a.m. Train service between the stations of Franklin and Bridgeland was reportedly suspended later. In some regions, shuttle buses were installed to provide seating for passengers.
Shortly after 9:30 a.m., service between the Bridgeland and Franklin stations was restored.
For several hours, there were heavy traffic backups on westbound Memorial Drive, according to callers to the 660 NewsRadio traffic centre.
