Title: Labour MP’s million-pound borrow from Lord Alli
Post by: Olatunbosun on 2024-09-26 22:41

An additional day, an additional drama. It has now come to light that a Labour MP borrowed £1 million from Lord Alli in order to purchase an apartment for her sister. Siobhain McDonagh, the MP for Mitcham and Morden, received assistance from Alli in her attempt to purchase a home for her dying sibling, Baroness McDonagh, who was once the first female general secretary of the Labour Party. The Labour peer is reportedly the donor's "best friend." How intriguing...

In March of last year, McDonagh recorded the £1.2 million loan from Alli, claiming that it was a "loan with no interest to be repaid on the sale of the home I share with a family member." "The relocation was required to give the family member full ground floor access," she continued. In support of the choice, McDonagh  used social media to post a message:

For twenty-five years, my sister's best friend was Waheed Alli. She sadly passed away on June 24, 2023, having been diagnosed with a glioblastoma brain cancer in November 2021. He accompanied her on her final, dreadful journey at every turn. financing my purchase of a home with a bedroom and bathroom on the main floor.

After Margaret's estate is granted probate, the loan will be returned. Waheed only wanted his best friend to be at ease during her final months of life, and it has been duly registered.

McDonagh defended her decision by saying that she wasn't being paid for favours. "What can you give a man who has been a Labour MP for twenty-five years and has £200 million?" She posted on Twitter ferociously. Even though there isn't any evidence of foul play, Sir Keir Starmer won't be helped by the disclosure to resolve the matter. Even after his first party conference in office, the freebie scandal continues. Not exactly the best way to begin the top job...
