The Lagos State Police Command's Rapid Response Squad (RRS) has stopped a 59-year-old man from trying to take his own life on the Third Mainland Bridge.

In a statement, the command's spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, revealed that on Friday, September 20, 2024, a guy going by the name Yemi made an attempt to leap from the bridge into the lagoon.

The PPRO reported that the individual claimed he was overburdened with difficulties.

A guy was stopped from plunging into the lagoon at around 1200 hours today by Rapid Response Squad (RRS) bike riders conducting a routine patrol on the Third Mainland Bridge. The individual A 59-year-old Yemi from Ilasa, Lagos, claimed he was overburdened with difficulties, according to the PPRO.

"The suspect has received counselling from Commander RRS, CSP Shola Jejeloye, who has also ordered that he be detained in protective custody until his family members arrive."
