The incident occurred at approximately 1 pm BST on Long Lane, where a 58-year-old man was found dead at the scene and a 27-year-old later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Another man in his 30s is currently in critical condition. A 31-year-old suspect is also in the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening. The victims are believed to be known to each other. The stabbing took place near Prospira Global, a consultancy firm, and Trademark Homes, a housing provider. The local MP, Neil Coyle, has described the situation as "truly awful" and assured that it appears to be a "targeted, isolated incident." The investigation is ongoing with a crime scene established at a nearby hotel where the suspect was apprehended, though he was not a guest there.
