In a CTV News interview, Smith denounced the account that allegedly posted images of Carrie Tait, a Calgary-based reporter investigating claims of political interference at Alberta Health Services. According to a report from the Globe, an X account called The Brokedown shared photos of Tait meeting with two former political staffers from Smith's government. These images were reportedly obtained without consent. The Globe also highlighted that a podcaster received the photographs prior to their release by the anonymous account, suggesting that someone may have been using Tait's phone number to make calls under a false identity. The anonymous account on X has since been suspended.
