Following two separate occurrences last month at Vancouver International Airport that resulted in the seizure of roughly 25 kg of meth concealed in bags, Canadian border officials reported that police had detained two Canadian visitors.

The drug's street value was assessed by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) in a news statement on Wednesday to be $1.25 million at the time of the two separate seizures.

A total of 24.84 kg of meth were found and confiscated by CBSA agents from passenger luggage that were headed to Sydney, Australia.

In the first occurrence, on July 27, border agents took 10 kg of meth from a citizen of Canada.

"The methamphetamine was concealed in false sided compartments of two suitcases," according to the press announcement.

In a another incident on July 29, police took 14.84 kg of meth out of a luggage belonging to a Canadian tourist.

"Upon examination of the suitcase, officers discovered a total of four vacuum sealed packages containing methamphetamine wrapped in clothing," according to the CBSA.

Both Canadians were detained and arrested by the RCMP. Information on potential charges was not immediately provided by the police.

The incidents are still being looked at by officials.

"Our organization dismantles criminal networks and fights the flow of illegal narcotics at our border. The border services officers' tenacity and detecting skills, as well as the critical role played by our intelligence operations in snaring illicit and dangerous materials, are demonstrated by these seizures, according to Nina Patel, regional director general of the In a statement, the Canada Border Services Agency for the Pacific Region
