Sweden's Migration and Asylum Policy Minister Johan Forssell has acknowledged that his 16-year-old son had connections to white supremacist groups.

This revelation comes after the anti-racism watchdog Expo reported that a "close relative" of a government minister was involved with the neo-Nazi Nordic Resistance Movement (NMR) and two other extremist organizations. Forssell stated that he had not been aware of his son's activities until the country's security service, Sapo, informed him. The minister assured that his son has ceased contact with the groups and is regretful.
Despite the controversy, Prime Minister Ulf Kristerssonsupports Forssell and maintains confidence in him, considering his actions as those of a responsible parent dealing with a personal family issue.
The opposition Left Party, however, is seeking further scrutiny and plans to summon Forssell to a parliamentary committee once the summer recess concludes. This incident has sparked discussions about the government's stance on extremism, particularly given its coalition with the Sweden Democrats, which has roots in Nazi sympathies.
