The President, speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima during the 2025 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) at Murtala Square in Kaduna, emphasized the urgency of the situation, referring to the challenges as existential threats.

Tinubu acknowledged the non-discriminatory nature of the threats facing Nigeria, affecting all religious and ethnic groups, and highlighted his government's commitment to supporting the military with the necessary resources, including advanced weapons systems, intelligence capabilities, and personnel development.

The President paid tribute to the fallen and injured soldiers, promising that their sacrifices would not be forgotten. He also commended the families of soldiers and support groups like the Nigerian Army Officers' Wives Association (NAOWA) and the Nigerian Army Soldiers' Wives Association (NASWA) for their contributions.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, reflected on the Army's history and the importance of prioritizing the welfare and training of its soldiers. The NADCEL theme, "Developing the Soldier First Concept: Imperative for the Nigerian Army Transformation Drive," underscores this commitment to the well-being and preparedness of military personnel.

The event showcased tactical demonstrations and military equipment, emphasizing the readiness and capabilities of the Nigerian Army. The presence of high-profile dignitaries, including former Head of State General Yakubu Gowon, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, and other political and military leaders, underscored the significance of the event and the national unity it represented.
