During a meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, the coalition members declared the ADC as the platform to contest against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 general elections. Additionally, the group appointed former Senate President David Mark as the interim national chairman of the ADC, while former Osun State governor Rauf Aregbesola was designated as the party's interim national secretary.
In response to this development, Kachikwu stated in a statement that he is observing the coalition's announced takeover of the ADC leadership with a sense of amusement.
He asserted that the coalition is engaging with the previous leadership of the party, which was led by Ralph Nwosu. He further noted that the tenure of the Nwosu-led executive of the ADC concluded on August 21, 2022.
