According to Malam Garba Shehu, former President Muhammadu Buhari was entirely incorruptible during his eight years in office. Shehu, who served as the Senior Special Assistant for Media and Publicity under Buhari, made these remarks ahead of the release of his memoir titled: "According to The President: Lessons from A Presidential Spokesman's Experience." During a media interaction in Abuja on Tuesday, Shehu asserted that Buhari's way of life is a testament to his integrity. "I take pride in the fact that to this day, no one has accused me of ever having bribed Buhari. There is corruption in the country, and indeed in our government; I acknowledge that. However, Buhari himself rose above all that.
And for us, that is commendable," he stated. When questioned about whether the entirety of Buhari's administration was a wasted period, he responded cautiously: "You know, in this country, we tend to have a disdain for our leaders, especially when they are in power. People may support you before you take office, but once you're in, they often turn against you."
