In relation to the May death of a baby at Wikwemikong First Nation, two persons have been accused.opp-new-1-6838512-1714494012736 (1).jpg
The investigation was started by the Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service on May 8 after a baby was taken to the hospital. On May 15, the OPP was requested to assist with the matter.
In a news statement on Tuesday, police stated that "assistance was provided under the direction of the OPP criminal investigation branch, with support from the Manitoulin OPP detachment."
"The infant was pronounced deceased on May 16."

The other accused is still being held and is expected to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Wikwemikong on August 27.
