The seizures included 977.711 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa, 6.462 kilograms of Methamphetamine, 70.182 kilograms of Tramadol, and 0.734 kilograms of Cocaine. The agency also arrested 446 suspected drug traffickers, with 62 cases resulting in convictions, and 78 cases still pending in court.

Mr. Abel Wadahi, the Enugu State NDLEA Commander, made this disclosure during the 2025 United Nations Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. This annual observance aims to raise awareness about the negative impacts of drug abuse and promote efforts to combat the illicit drug trade.

The NDLEA has also been active in counseling and rehabilitating individuals affected by substance abuse, with 452 people receiving treatment and rehabilitation services. Additionally, the agency conducted 152 sensitization programs that reached over 81,000 people.

The event highlighted the importance of addressing poverty and trauma as underlying factors contributing to substance abuse and emphasized the need for youth empowerment and reducing the stigma associated with drug users. The Enugu State Traditional Rulers' Council and other stakeholders called for collaborative efforts to disrupt the drug supply chain and promote a drug-free society.

The keynote lecture by Dr. Vincent Egbuogu from the National Orthopaedic Hospital in Enugu discussed the destructive nature of drug abuse and the importance of reducing supply and demand through various interventions and market strategies.

The event saw participation from civil society groups, security agencies, students, NYSC members, state officials, and academics, reflecting a multi-faceted approach to tackling the issue of drug abuse and trafficking in the region.
