Her Honour the Honourable Judy M. Foote, P.C., O.N.L., Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador, attended an awards ceremony on Thursday afternoon to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires in Newfoundland and Labrador. This event recognized the outstanding service and dedication of several individuals within the organization, which was established in Canada to support veterans by offering them employment opportunities following the First World War.

The following individuals were awarded for their contributions:

- Commandant's Commendation: Spencer Barnes, Phonse Howell, and Joe Frampton
- Commissionaires Long Service Medal (12 years): John Bennett and Jim Lynch
- First Silver Clasp (17 years): Eric Hutton and Antonio Noftall
- First Gold Clasp: The late George Quehe, with the award accepted by his spouse, Gayle Quehe

After the awards ceremony, Her Honour participated in planting a commemorative tree to symbolize the enduring legacy of the Commissionaires.
