The Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu, visited Pyongyang on a short working trip on June 4.

He was welcomed by high-ranking North Korean officials, including the Deputy Chairman of the Central Military Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), Marshal Park Chong Chon, and the Deputy Foreign Minister of the DPRK, Kim Jong-gyu. An honor guard from the Korean People's Army (KPA) was also present at the airport to greet him.

During his visit, Shoigu had a meeting with North Korea's Supreme Leader, Kim Jong Un, where they discussed various matters of cooperation between the two countries and exchanged views on international issues such as the situation in Ukraine and the security situation on the Korean Peninsula. The talks were described as taking place in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding. After the meetings, Shoigu returned to Russia on the same day.
