The AU-EU Ministerial Meetings in Brussels, Belgium, provided an opportunity for Hon. Nancy Tembo, Malawi's Minister of Foreign Affairs, to hold a bilateral discussion with her Egyptian counterpart, Hon. Dr. Badr Abdelatty. During their meeting, the two officials praised the positive trajectory of the bilateral relationship between Malawi and Egypt and recognized the advantages that stem from their collaborative efforts.

To bolster these ties and capitalize on the potential for enhanced partnership, the ministers agreed to re-establish the Malawi-Egypt Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation (JPCC). This body will serve as a central mechanism to explore and develop joint initiatives across several key sectors, such as agriculture, tourism, peace and security, trade and investment, energy, and health.
The decision to reconvene the JPCC underscores a mutual desire for deeper collaboration and reflects a broader vision of fostering sustainable growth and reinforcing diplomatic ties between the two countries. This strategic move is anticipated to yield significant benefits and propel the relationship to new heights, contributing to the development agendas of both Malawi and Egypt.
