Title: NDLEA Cracks Down On Cocaine Cartels, Recovers Multi-billion-naira Drugs

The spokesperson for the NDLEA, Babafemi, reported the arrest of an individual in Oba town who attempted to retrieve his own 1.117kg of cocaine.

In another incident, NDLEA operatives at the Tincan seaport in Lagos intercepted 532 parcels of Loud, a synthetic form of cannabis, weighing 265.25kg. The illegal substance was found in a black Toyota Sienna bus, one of three vehicles in a container with the identifier MSMU 6029570, which had arrived from Montreal, Canada. This seizure took place on Wednesday, August 7th, during a thorough joint examination with the Customs Service and other stakeholders.

The following day, on Thursday, August 8th, NDLEA officers made another discovery—75 parcels of the same substance, weighing 37.5kg, in a container marked FSCU-9274613, also from Canada.

In a separate operation in Adamawa State on August 8th, NDLEA agents, supported by men of Operation Farauta Sector 3, Mayo Belwa, apprehended 49-year-old Joseph Peter. He was found with 425 compressed blocks of cannabis sativa, weighing 291.200kg, in his Toyota Camry with the license plate Lagos KSF 381 HM. Peter claimed he was transporting the consignment from Edo State to Yola, Adamawa State.

Additionally, two individuals, Adekunle Sunday Adebayo, 50, and Yahaya Mamuda, 35, were arrested on Tuesday, August 6th, in the Gadar Tamburawa area of Kano with 29.5kg of cannabis. In Lagos, NDLEA officers recovered 1,169kg of the same psychoactive substance from a bus along Orchid Road, Ajah, on Sunday, August 4th.

On Friday, August 9th, in Kogi State, NDLEA officers, with support from the Nigerian Army, destroyed 1,230kg of cannabis spread across three hectares of farmland in Ikeje Forest, Edimogo Village, Igalamela/Odolu LGA. The owner, 40-year-old Danjuma Maji, was arrested during the operation, according to the NDLEA spokesperson.
