A report revealed that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has thousands of former employees still listed on its payroll. The analysis focused on the NPF's nominal and payroll data for December 2023, obtained from the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) for comparison.

The nominal roll listed 350,028 names, while the payroll listed 312,047. Among these, 37,160 staff members were labeled as "ex-employees" on the nominal roll. Of these, 37,129 were marked as "inactive," while 31 were still categorized as "active."

Additionally, 4,190 of these "ex-employees" were found to have received salaries in December 2023, amounting to N980,273,690.51. Among these, 3,228 had consistent records across all validation parameters, including names, IPPIS numbers, and account numbers. However, discrepancies were found for 962 employees, where names and bank information did not match the payroll records.
