Governor of Lagos state;
Today, I observed the signing of a contract between the Lagos State Government and ZoomLion Nigeria, a subsidiary of the Jospong Group, which represents a crucial advancement in waste management throughout our state.

Lagos generates approximately 13,000 tonnes of waste each day. This is a substantial figure, highlighting the necessity for more robust systems to manage it effectively. This collaboration is designed to tackle that issue.
As part of this agreement, we will establish a Transfer Loading Station at the Olusosun dumpsite, enabling us to completely close down Olusosun. From this location, 2,500 tonnes of waste per day will be transported to a new Material Recovery Facility in Ikorodu.
Additionally, a comparable facility will be built at the Solous III dumpsite in Igando, where 1,500 tonnes of waste will be redirected to another new recovery center in Badagry.
We are also introducing self-tipping tricycles to assist with waste collection in areas that are more challenging to reach, both within the city and its outskirts.
This initiative will enhance our waste management practices and is anticipated to generate over 5,000 jobs, both directly and indirectly.
We are making progress in the right direction, aiming for cleaner streets, improved health, and a more livable Lagos for everyone.
