The meeting's focus was on the World Bank-funded Fiji Tourism Development Program in Vanua Levu, named 'Na Vualiku'. This project is designed to strengthen infrastructure, enhance private sector involvement in tourism, and improve environmental sustainability. The Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation leads the initiative, with support from the Fiji Roads Authority, Fiji Airports Limited, and the Savusavu Town Council. The President expressed his support for the project and acknowledged its importance in fostering sustainable tourism growth and women's participation in the sector.
The delegation included Mr. Hasmukh Patel, Fiji Airports Limited Board Chair; Mr. Marlon Lezama, Na Vualiku Project Manager; Ms. Jacinta Lal, Director for Tourism; Mr. Kelepi Dainaki, General Manager Assets & Infrastructure (Fiji Airports); and Mr. Tevita Cokanasiga Roko Tui Saravanua. The project's goals are to enhance the region's attractiveness for tourists while ensuring sustainable practices are in place.
