The wing had suffered water damage, and the repairs were carried out by the Yanjian Group (Fiji) Limited over a twenty-day period. The event marked the continuation of the strong bilateral relationship between the two nations, with Fiji reaffirming its stance on the 'One China Principle' and celebrating fifty years of partnership in 2025. China's Ambassador to Fiji, Zhou Jian, attended the ceremony and acknowledged the deep ties between China and Fiji, highlighting China's respect for Fijian history and culture. He also mentioned earlier projects, such as the construction of perimeter walls for State House and the Botanical Garden, which were also funded by China. Looking ahead, Ambassador Jian emphasized China's willingness to expand cooperation with Fiji and work towards mutually beneficial outcomes.
