From April 22 to May 2, 2025, the police apprehended 29 individuals, resulting in 160 charges being laid. These individuals had extensive histories of criminal and trafficking-related offenses, with 79% having prior records and 97% previously facing trafficking charges. The majority of them were on release pending trial with conditions at the time of their arrest.
During the operation, officers also confiscated various weapons, including knives and an imitation revolver with ammo. The accused individuals were provided with resources for addiction treatment, shelter, and employment, and were evaluated for potential participation in the Drug Treatment Court and the Calgary Indigenous Court.
The message concludes with an appeal to the public to report any suspicious drug trafficking activities to the police or Calgary Crime Stoppers. This collaborative effort involves Community Engagement Response Teams (CERT), City of Calgary Community Standards bylaw officers, and Calgary Transit peace officers, aiming to ensure public safety and address the root causes of crime.
