The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru, has urged the three senators from Osun State who recently endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term to go beyond mere endorsement by actually joining the ruling party.

Basiru, who is also eyeing the Osun State gubernatorial seat in 2026, praised the senators for their act of statesmanship but suggested that they should show true commitment by switching allegiance to the APC. The senators, all from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had publicly endorsed President Tinubu's second term bid, highlighting his achievements in areas like infrastructure, economic reforms, food security, and national security.

The APC campaign group emphasized that by aligning with the party, the senators would be able to better serve their constituents and contribute to the overall development of Osun State. This call comes amidst a series of defections from the PDP to the APC, which the party believes would help foster a more unified and effective government capable of delivering on its promises to the people of Nigeria.

The statement from the Senator Ajibola Basiru Campaign Organisation (SABCO) highlighted the potential benefits of the senators' full alliance with the APC, particularly in terms of leveraging federal resources and collaborating with the state government to drive progress in Osun State. It also criticized the current administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, accusing it of underperformance and maladministration.

The endorsement by the PDP senators underscores the growing recognition of President Tinubu's efforts across party lines, although the call for them to formally join the APC suggests that the ruling party is seeking to capitalize on this momentum and expand its support base ahead of future elections.
