Italian Minister of University and Research and signs a 4.5 million euro grant

The Ministry of Finance  welcomes the Italian Minister of  University and Research and signs a 4.5 million  euro grant agreement with the Republic of  Italy.
27 January 2025 -  H.E., Minister of Finance, Anna Maria Bernini, during her official visit to Ethiopia. During the meeting  in her office, Mr. Ahmed Shide expressed  his gratitude for Italy's  continued support and  emphasized the strong historical and economic ties between the two  nations.
H.E. Minister Ahmed emphasized that the Framework Agreement between Ethiopia and Italy  is fully consistent with Ethiopia's long-term development goals in  the sectors of agriculture, industry, health,  education and private sector  development.
H.E. Anna Maria Bernini  extended this warm welcome  to him and  expressed her interest in future collaborations with Ethiopia. She expressed her commitment to supporting joint initiatives and fostering stronger bilateral  relations. As part of this  cooperation, Ethiopia and Italy signed an  implementation agreement aimed at strengthening digital services in Ethiopia through the establishment of an incubation center for  high-tech innovation  companies.
Under this agreement, the Republic of Italy will provide a grant of  4.5 million  euros (approximately 585 million Ethiopian  birr). This initiative aims  to:
Create an  incubation center for e-services and  startups.
Create a "FAB Lab"  (fabrication laboratory) equipped with advanced manufacturing and prototyping  tools. Develop a training  center and a high-tech  talent development center. The project is designed to align with Ethiopia's national development goals and job creation strategies. It aims to  improve service delivery, foster innovation and entrepreneurship, and promote job creation in key sectors through cutting-edge technologies and digital  infrastructure.
The agreement was signed by Mr. Ahmed Shide, Minister of Finance of Ethiopia, and Anna Maria Bernini, Minister of  University and Research of Italy. They were joined by Ambassador Agostino Palese, the Ambassador  of Italy to Ethiopia.
