Three people have died and two others have been hospitalized in Welland as a result of a head-on collision.


Emergency services were called to a car crash involving a bus and pickup truck on Highway 58 in Welland last night around 10:30 p.m.




A Transit Bus and the pickup truck collided head-on.


Consequently, the pickup vehicle overturned and caught fire.


On the spot, the driver and two passengers were declared dead.


The bus driver suffered severe, potentially fatal injuries and was airlifted to the hospital.


At the time of the collision, there were two more passengers on the bus.


While the second passenger was released at the scene, the first was transported to a hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries.

The Safety Division is still looking into this.
